A community blood bank in Los Cabos will fill a critical need as the closest blood supply is currently over two hours away in La Paz.
The Los Cabos Community Blood Bank will ensure that everyone in Los Cabos has access to blood when needed, including in emergencies when timely availability is critical to saving lives. In collaboration with the ATM Blood Bank, the Los Cabos Community Blood Bank will conduct blood drives, provide education to potential donors, and keep a list of blood donors, including their blood types, to ensure an accessible supply of blood.
By its very nature, The Community Blood Bank will build relationships and community by involving a wide variety of individuals, businesses and organizations. It takes a collaborative effort to initiate a project like this, and to keep it running. In addition, individuals of all backgrounds freely donate their blood to share with those in need. We are proud to be working in collaboration with the Los Cabos Community Alliance (LCCA) to accomplish this life-saving community need.

To raise $1.5 million USD to purchase a Blood Mobile, an Apheresis Machine (used to separate blood into its derivatives) and cover the initial five years of operations.
Phase Two will build a new Blood Bank in the heart of San Jose, in addition to the Blood Mobile and an initial location in Cabo San Lucas.
Phase Three will provide sustainability for The Community Blood Bank’s operation by funding an endowment through long-term designated gifts. This will ensure that lifesaving blood will be available when needed regardless of the local economic and political conditions.
