Join Chase Lent in Building Two Homes for Families Facing Domestic challenges
The “homes” that dot the desert between the airport and Cabo have always bothered me. I wondered how kids could live like that – wood and metal sheets for walls and roofs, concrete blocks, plastic tarps, no bathroom, no air conditioning in the desert heat. Sadly, these neighborhoods exist in many locations across Cabo; and precious children fill them.

Homes are important to me – a little bit of an obsession – I want to create them for a career one day and treasure the foundation they provide. A safe home creates peace, security, and the ability to thrive. The lack of these makes growing up and thriving so much harder.
I was looking for a way to help and ran into several dead ends until a local friend thankfully introduced me to El Dorado Foundation. The foundation builds many important projects across Los Cabos, one of which is Paty’s School, a wonderful school located in a very poor neighborhood. At Paty’s School, kids learn, play, eat, and dream. They build a hope to one day live by the ocean instead of in their dusty desolate neighborhood. When I visited Paty’s for the first time and stood on the roof of their main building, I was struck by the fact that these children live so close to the shimmering Sea of Cortez but have never seen it in person. They didn’t even know the sea existed until the building at Paty’s was built. The irony struck me – what makes Cabo so wealthy and popular wasn’t even in their reality. But now, Paty’s is opening their eyes to a whole new world and showing these amazing children what is possible when you work hard and have others that care to invest in you.
We now have the opportunity to provide another essential service at Paty’s by funding and building two apartments on the property. These apartments will provide temporary housing for desperate children and their mothers who face domestic abuse and need to leave their current home. The apartments will provide a safe home until a permanent home is found. This project will bridge the gap to hope when it is needed most.
The motto of Paty’s School is “Dar para Recibir.” Children who have very little learn “to give to receive.” They inspire me, and I hope that we can together give them a better now and a better future.
Meaning of Casa Arch:
Our project is called Casa Arch because of the hope these apartments will bring to the families who stay in them. Arches represent a new beginning – you move through an arch and face a different side, new possibilities. Arches across the world celebrate victory – we hope that these apartments will quickly provide a transition to triumph and freedom from an abusive situation and remind the families that they can overcome terrible obstacles. Architecturally, arches are a main foundation for structures – symbolizing the families’ strength and the support that they have behind them. An arch resembles a bridge – representing the unity that connects the United States with Mexico and showing a message of solidarity with the citizens of Cabo. Lastly, Casa Arch represents the famous Cabo Arch – and the goal that all of the children attending Paty’s School will escape their neighborhood and have the means to visit the Cabo Arch.
Chase asks for your support to help fund these two apartment homes that will provide security and protection to vulnerable families.
